A wannabe generalist in the world of specialists
My name is Atul Jha. I am from Nepal working professionally as a software quality assurance engineer.
Writing is one of the many things that I am passionate about. I have been actively reading books for as long as I can remember. Always look forward to presenting my observations, backed by years of background knowledge.
Always up for a great anime. The spike it provides is immeasurable. I am an all-time Haikyuu fan.
Here at Medium, I want to reach out and impact many people during my writing journey.
How often do you find yourselves watching something exciting, which presents a slice of life making you question your own existence and passions in life, that you failed to pursue just because you didn’t do what you could have? Haikyuu is something that made me question myself.
If there’s something that can tell us more about our true selves than anything else in this world, it is through sports. I played soccer for as long as I can remember so I was never fond of volleyball. It was some time ago that I stumbled upon this volleyball based sports anime…
What is success? How do you define your success?
Success is merely the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
We have goals. We set them with so much optimism. Yet, it isn’t always the case when it comes to execution.
We wish to write articles that create an impact. We all want to be successful on Medium.
Let me remind you that the quality of your writing has nothing to do with Medium. You may write masterpieces that do not get enough recognition while someone may write on a simple topic that grabs people.
There are many factors that play…
Mustang, also known as the semi-desert of Nepal lies right below the mountains. Mustang is the most popular tourist destination of Nepal for both internal and foreign tourists.
For those of you readers, interested in experiencing the scenic beauty of Nepal, Mustang is one of those places that justifies your travel.
You can know everything you want about Mustang here. I will continue with my story here.
I was both excited and worried so much that I could not sleep at night. Exams were over. I was chilling at my home.
There were talks about a college tour, a trip…
This month I have published four articles. A travel story, a book summary, and two articles related to productivity. With some experiments, I learned some hacks that brought me more views and likes.
I received more claps and views this month than I had on any other months.
The articles I published this month are as follows:
I am a travel enthusiast. This article is about the unique travel experiences that I had while traveling to Uttarakhand, India.
It was published in World Traveler’s Blog. This is my first article that was curated.
In the world of digital media, everything fights for your attention. It feels like waves of the sea, where you are bombarded with an overwhelmingly large amount of things.
We all have something that is common between each and every individual. Time.
“Lost time is never found again” — Benjamin Franklin
It is easy to get lost when there is so much going on. I wrote an article on an aspect of our productivity about why we keep switching tasks and how we lose our focus.
Being productive at any task we take on is the best thing you can…
The Japanese method of creating lasting changes.
Kaizen is a Japanese term meaning “continuous improvement”. Find more about Kaizen here.
Kaizen was introduced by Toyota when it implemented quality in its production process. The term was coined by Masaki Imam who was a Japanese organizational theorist and a management consultant.
The main goal of Kaizen is to improve the production process. It is currently being used by many manufacturers and corporations.
Kaizen helps form discipline by tricking the brain into slowly forming a habit. Doing something new is challenging but consistently doing something is extremely tough.
It requires forming habits…
The most important curve in this world that separates winners from losers
Yes, The Dip is the most important curve in the world. A curve that we all go through every time we face a challenge or try to learn something new.
We all have quit things once in…
This is a story from 2015 when I was traveling across Uttarakhand, a state in India.
Uttarakhand is a beautiful place with amazing natural beauty. As India is a neighboring country of Nepal, I was able to travel via road directly.
Uttarakhand is famous for holy religious places like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kedarnath temple, and Gangotri (the place where the holy river the Ganges started).
This is the place where Apple founder Steve Jobs and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg found inspiration. Here’s an article on Steve Jobs advising Mark Zuckerberg to visit an ashram during their early days.
I started my journey as a Quality Assurance Engineer right after graduating from university. I went through a six-week internship program to finally get my first full-time contract.
Do you know what that means? It means I will be a part of the team that will build real software. I had a mock project experience (that’s what I like to call it), being involved in a project under a senior QA who guided me during my internship. It was tough, fun, and a comfortable experience until one day I was assigned to a real project.
Now I was no longer…
